  • School readiness and academic achievement
  • Mathematical cognition and development
  • Episodic memory development
  • Developmental cognitive neuroscience

Dr. Rajan’s research focuses on early childhood cognitive and brain development. One line of her research examines the development of episodic memory, which involves the ability to recall events from a specific time and place. Another line of her research examines the cognitive and socio-emotional factors that impact young children’s school readiness and academic achievement, particularly in the domain of early math learning. She is currently investigating how self-regulation facilitates the development of number concepts and early number knowledge in preschool children. Dr. Rajan received her PhD in Developmental and Biological Psychology from Virginia Tech and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in cognitive science and education at the University of Delaware.
